MAKING AN ANNUAL DONATION

Your donation to our spring annual appeal, designated to daily operations, not only enables The Port Theatre Society to operate effectively, but also sends a message of community support and partnership that encourages the corporate sector and various levels of government to increase their contributions, allowing us to expand and enhance existing programs. With your help, we will continue to find creative, new ways to contribute to our community’s quality of life.

SUPPORTING OUR THEATRE ANGELS PROGRAM

You can give the gift of laughter and song, dancing and joy, and a good feeling of belonging. These are the benefits enjoyed by those who have received complimentary Theatre Angel tickets to attend events at The Port Theatre. This year, our Theatre Angels Program will distribute over 4,000 complimentary tickets, through over fifty social service agencies, to local people on limited incomes, offering access to a wide variety of performances for children and adults alike. Program sponsor is RBC.

SPONSORING A SEAT

Theatre seats can be sponsored – forever – for a one time donation. Each seat plaque has room for up to two names, a family name, business, school, club or team name. Honour the memory of a loved one or pay tribute to someone in the community. You can contribute $25 or $50 per month with pre-authorized payments or charge the entire sponsorship to your credit card and earn some air miles! You will be issued a charitable tax receipt and the cost to you is only $550 after tax credits. Ten seats remain in the Conductor’s Circle (Rows A & B) at a sponsorship fee of $500. Seats still available in the Loges and the Balconyare $1,000.

PLANNING A LEGACY GIFT

The Port Theatre Society Endowment Fund has grown to almost $700,000 and is now managed by the Nanaimo Community Foundation. $1 from every ticket sold is added to the Endowment Fund each year. In recent months, several members have notified us that they have left a specified amount in their will for our Endowment Fund. We are very grateful for these planned gifts and donors can be assured that their bequests will remain in perpetuity. Currently the Board has adopted a policy that stipulates the annual interest earned by the fund will be reinvested each year. Once the Endowment Fund has reached $1 million, the annual interest earned will be available to the Society for operations, capital projects and special initiatives. Next time you are updating your will (and everyone should have a current will) please consider leaving a legacy gift to The Port Theatre Society. Thank you!
